Deficiencies in Kozlukebir, Yassıköy and Şapçı health centres brought to parliament
Rhodope MP Özgür Ferhat submitted a parliamentary question to the Minister of Health regarding the major deficiencies in primary health care services in Kozlukebir, Yassıköy and Şapçı Municipalities. He emphasised that these deficiencies cause an important problem for the daily life and health of the people of the region.
In his motion, Özgür Ferhat stated that there is no health centre within the borders of Kozlukebir Municipality and that there are significant staff shortages in the regional health centres. Ferhat stated that these health centres provide limited services, work only on certain days of the week and generally only prescribe medication. He also noted that Şapçı and Yassıköy health centres face serious medical and health staff shortages.
Ferhat stated that citizens living in Hemetli and Mehrikoz sub-district of Kozlukebir Municipality have to travel between 50 and 100 kilometres to reach the nearest health centre (Komotini or Alexandroupoli Hospital).
The New Left MP added that the lack of ambulances and personnel poses serious risks for the health of the patients.
The Rhodope MP asked the Minister of Health for answers and solutions to the following questions: 1. Are there urgent plans for the recruitment of medical and nursing staff to meet the needs of the state hospital and health centres in Rhodope?
2. Will financial support be provided for the maintenance of the ambulances of the municipalities of Kozlukebir and Şapçı?
3. What measures will be taken to improve ambulance services and the functioning of microbiology and radiology laboratories?
4. Is it planned to provide Kozlukebir Municipality with a new ambulance and permanent staff for its continuous operation?
5. Is it planned to establish a Health Centre within the boundaries of Kozlukebir Municipality?
6. Will the existing District Health Centre be allocated a doctor for night shifts and an ambulance crew for critical situations in remote villages?
7. What efforts will be made to fully equip the District Health Centres with permanent staff to meet their needs?
