State ownership claims on allocated farmland to end under new law

Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat has announced that a new legal regulation will end state ownership claims over agricultural land allocated to citizens through official state procedures in the past.

Ferhat said that under Law 5293/2026, titled "Regulations for a Citizen-Friendly State," the state will no longer be able to claim ownership rights over farmland used by citizens who hold official allocation documents.

Ongoing disputes to be resolved

The regulation is expected to affect thousands of people who have faced difficulties selling, inheriting or completing land registry procedures for fields they have cultivated for years because of state claims over the same properties.

According to the new rules, citizens with official allocation documents, temporary title deeds, land distribution records or other state-issued documents proving their right of use will be protected from new ownership claims or legal action by the state.

The measure also includes the termination of ongoing legal disputes and the correction of incorrect initial land registry entries recorded in the state's name.

Ferhat stressed that citizens with official documents should continue following procedures with relevant authorities to secure their rights. He added that he will closely monitor the implementation process and continue informing the public about developments.
