Fifteen arrested in drug-related cases across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Greek police arrested 15 Greek nationals in 14 separate drug-related cases across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace between August 24 and 29, 2026, authorities said.
The arrests were carried out as part of targeted police operations aimed at combating the distribution and possession of narcotics in the region.
Police officers from the Directorates of Police in Dedeağaç, Rhodope, Kavala, İskeçe and Drama conducted checks in several areas during the six-day period.
According to police, seven people were arrested in areas of Meriç, three in Rhodope, three in Kavala, one in İskeçe and one in Drama.
Authorities said the suspects were facing 14 separate case files for violations of Greece's legislation on addictive substances.
Drugs and equipment seized
During the operations, police seized various quantities of narcotics and drug-related equipment.
The seizures included small quantities of heroin, a total of 35.75 grams of raw cannabis, 30 narcotic tablets, three grinders and one precision electronic scale.
The arrests were carried out by officers from the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes in Dedeağaç, the respective Crime Prosecution and Investigation Departments in Gümülcine, Kavala, İskeçe and Drama, as well as motorcycle police units operating in Dedeağaç and Gümülcine.
The case files have been submitted to the competent prosecutors, while preliminary investigations are being conducted by the relevant police departments.
The latest arrests form part of ongoing targeted operations by Greek authorities against drug-related offenses across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
