MP Özgür Ferhat submits parliamentary inquiry to the Ministry

Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat from the New Left Party has submitted a parliamentary inquiry to the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Family, highlighting the economic exclusion of the Rodopi region from financial support programs.
"Rodopi is Being Left Out of Economic Support!"
Ferhat criticized the government for excluding Rodopi from economic aid programs, despite similar support being provided to families settling in the municipalities of Soufli, Didymoteicho, and Orestiada, where up to €10,000 in financial assistance is available.
He emphasized the serious demographic decline in Kozlukebir, Maronya-Şapçı, Yassıköy, and remote villages of Komotini, where poor infrastructure, unemployment, and youth migration are exacerbating economic and social instability.
"Government Policies Worsen Inequalities!"
Ferhat pointed out that the Thrace Development Commission’s reports have failed to deliver tangible results, and the government's regional policies have only deepened inequalities.
Key Questions in the Inquiry:
- Will the economic measures applied in Evros also be extended to Rodopi?
- If so, is there a timeline for implementation?
- What measures are in place to counteract the negative effects of cross-border financial transfers on the local economy?
- What initiatives are planned to promote entrepreneurship and create new jobs?
- How will balanced development be ensured to reduce economic disparities in Rodopi?
"Rodopi Deserves Fair Treatment!"
Ferhat concluded his statement by urging the government to take immediate and effective steps to address this injustice. His inquiry has once again highlighted the economic and social struggles of the Rodopi region, raising expectations for concrete government action.
