YTB president Turus strongly condemns provocative attack on Çınar Mosque
Abdulhadi Turus, president of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), has strongly condemned the offensive and provocative expressions written on the exterior wall of Çınar Mosque in İskeçe (Xanthi), calling on Greek authorities to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
Offensive statements targeting Islamic sacred values were written on the exterior wall near the entrance of the historic mosque, prompting condemnation from representatives of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace.
“An unacceptable attack that damages social peace”
In a statement shared on social media, Turus said targeting places of worship and sacred values was unacceptable and threatened social peace and the culture of peaceful coexistence.
“I strongly condemn the writing of offensive and provocative expressions targeting Almighty Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and our sacred values on the exterior wall at the entrance of Çınar Mosque in İskeçe (Xanthi),” Turus said.
He stressed that attacks on places of worship go beyond religious concerns and can undermine peaceful coexistence within society.
“Targeting places of worship and sacred values is an unacceptable attack that damages social peace and the culture of living together. This ugly attack is the latest example of provocative actions targeting the Turkish community of Western Thrace,” he said.
YTB calls on Greek authorities to act
Turus called on the Greek authorities to identify the perpetrators as soon as possible and bring them before justice.
“We expect the Greek authorities to identify the perpetrators as soon as possible, bring them to justice and take measures to prevent similar provocations from occurring again,” he said.
The YTB president also stressed the importance of taking effective measures to prevent further incidents targeting places of worship or religious communities.

Turus concluded his statement by expressing solidarity with the Turkish community of Western Thrace and conveying his wishes for a speedy recovery to the congregation of Çınar Mosque and the wider community.
