Ruling party ND calls for SYRIZA MP to resign

The ruling party, New Democracy (ND), demanded the resignation of Kavala MP Tanya Eleftheriadu of the main opposition party Radical Left Alliance SYRIZA.

The ruling party ND (New Democracy) demanded the resignation of the main opposition party Radical Left Alliance SYRIZA's Kavala deputy Tanya Eleftheriadu. The reason for the request was that Eleftheriadu had commercial relations with the public during her deputyship.

ALLEGED PAYMENT MADE 55 TIMES

In a statement made by New Democracy, it was claimed that Eleftheriadu provided legal services to the National Social Security Institution (EFKA) during her time as a member of parliament and was paid 55 times for this.

In the statement, which is claimed to be payment instructions from the institution to Eleftheriadu, "Will SYRIZA Leader Alexis Tsipras ask for her resignation?" expression was used.

106 THOUSAND EURO LAWYER SERVICE

SYRIZA's Deputy for Chania, Pavlos Polakis, also claimed in his post on social media last week that New Democracy's Thessaloniki Deputy Anna Efthimiu provided legal services for a total of 106,672 euros to the National Social Security Institution (EFKA).

Stating that this service is unconstitutional, Polakis called on Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis to expel Efthimiu from the party and announce the election date as soon as possible.

HE RESIGNED FROM THE MUNICIPALITY

Defending that he has no commercial agreement with any public institution, Efthimiu claimed that her service to EFKA covered the period before she was elected as a deputy.

New Democracy MP Themis Himaras resigned from his parliamentary position on January 4, after it was revealed that the company he was a partner in was doing business with the public and participating in public tenders.

According to Article 57 of the Greek Constitution, deputies are prohibited from being the owner, partner or senior manager of companies providing public services.
