PM Mitsotakis: On Friday democracy proved its strength

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in his Sunday post on social media, shares, as he says, his first thoughts on the unprecedented volume of rallies on the two-year anniversary of the Tempi tragedy and the Hellenic Aviation and Railway Safety Investigation Agency’s (HARSIA) findings.
Mitsotakis stressed that on Friday, “ our democracy proved its strength” and noted that it is a sign of outstanding social sensitivity that so many Greeks, of all ages, chose to express their feelings in a peaceful manner. "Citizens, both those who demonstrated and those who mourned in silence, asked for the obvious: truth and justice for the victims. The country deserves safe and modern public transport. I will not dwell on the few who sought to tarnish the memory of the dead. The police acted professionally, preventing further incidents and the spread of violence," Mitsotakis noted. He added, "This tragedy was not merely a terrible coincidence, nor simply the tragic result of human errors. The conclusion of the Hellenic Aviation and Railway Safety Investigation Agency (HARSIA) confirmed this. That is why the call for more and faster progress in the functioning of our state is resounding-a progress that cannot remain mere words."
PASOK: PM unrepentant despite protests
Movement for Change stated that "the Prime Minister remains unrepentant despite the magnificent protest rallies of the Greek people" and that he is attempting to absolve himself of his heavy responsibilities during his six years in power.
The party further stated that the Greek people "witness the dangerous face of a government that, two years after the tragedy of Tempi, promises and announces it will guarantee railway safety after two more years! They see the arrogant attitude of the ministers."
SYRIZA on Mitsotakis' post: Scandals, lies, and provocations
SYRIZA- Progressive Alliance responds to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' post on social media about the rallies on the two-year anniversary of the railway accident in Tempi. In a statement, the party calls for his resignation and accuses him of "dishonesty, lies, and provocations." "Kyriakos Mitsotakis' post on social media today is a monument to audacity, apathy, and hypocrisy," SYRIZA said in its statement, noting that "the magnificent presence of the Greek people in dozens of cities showed the way to him and his government. The resignation."
