Nikos Pappas, former minister of SYRIZA sentenced to prison

Pappas was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of irregularity and abuse of power in the tender for broadcasting permissions for private television channels during his term as the Minister of Digital Policy, Telecommunications, and Communications in the SYRIZA government. The court delayed Pappas' sentence for three years. Businessman Christos Kalogritsas, who was tried in the same case, was fined.
Former Minister Nikos Pappas, who was sentenced to prison by the special court that handled the case, stated that the court was created for political purposes and that the decision had a political character. Pappas said, “When politics enters the courtroom, justice leaves the courtroom.” made the statement. Pappas' lawyer announced that they will take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
