The two lawmakers assumed their seats following the resignations of former MPs Symeon Kedikoglou from Evia and Vassilios Kokkalis from Larissa.

Akriotou is a member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, while Karipidis serves as president of the Municipal Council of Elassona.

SYRIZA parliamentary group leader Rena Dourou welcomed the two new MPs, describing them as important additions to the party’s parliamentary team.

"Old and new members are joining forces in SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance’s political counteroffensive for political change," Dourou said, highlighting the importance of their ideological commitment and participation in the traditions of the Radical Left.

The appointments come as SYRIZA continues efforts to strengthen its parliamentary presence and political strategy amid Greece’s evolving political landscape.
