Aristidis Baltas, an academic who was an MP and minister in SYRIZA, also parted ways with the new president Stefanos Kasselakis.
Aristidis Baltas, an academic who was an MP and minister in SYRIZA, announced his parting of ways with the new president Stefanos Kasselakis in an article published in the newspaper "Efimerida ton Sindakton".
Baltas, directing his criticism at Kasselakis, accused the new leader of SYRIZA of "extreme selfishness" because of his speech at the party's Central Committee last Saturday.
Stating that he did not use the word "resignation", Baltas said: "I am not resigning from SYRIZA, because until a few months ago, SYRIZA was in the centre with all its flaws. It is Mr Kasselakis who made SYRIZA 'resign' from its leftist character."
"I am not leaving the line of the progressive and radical left," Baltas explained, without using the word "separation".
