Rhodope province has the least deposits
According to the data of the Central Bank, the province of Rhodope has the least deposits compared to other provinces in the Province of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It was stated that the decline in the deposits of the Rhodope province continued in the first half of 2023.
The province of Rodopi ranked last in the ranking of the regional provinces in terms of the number of accounts in banks and the amount of money in the accounts.
DEPOSITS DECREASED BY 16 MILLION EUROS
At the end of the first semester of the 2023 financial year, there are 16 million euro less deposits in bank accounts in Rhodope Province compared to December 2022. The amount of deposits in banks was announced as 889 million euro.
The amount of deposits in the Rhodope province totalled 642 million euros in mid-2015, starting to increase from mid-2016, reaching 762 million euros at the end of 2019 and accelerated rapidly during the pandemic period, reaching 886 million euros in December 2021.
There is a similar picture throughout the Eastern Macedonian Thrace region.
It was also reminded that despite the decreases, the amount of deposits increased compared to the pre-pandemic period.
Compared to December 2019, deposits in Rhodope province increased by 127 million euro, i.e. by 16.6%.
Deposits in the DMT increased by a total of 882 million euros, or 16.5 per cent.
INCREASE IN DRAMA
On the other hand, it was noted that there was an increase in deposits across the country.
The only province in the DMT State to see an increase in deposits was the province of Drama, which increased from a total of 1.117 million euros to 1.132 million euros compared to December 2022.
KAVALA AND EVROS PROVINCIES DECLINE
Overall, the highest amount of deposits was recorded in Kavala with 1 billion 631 million euro, down by 16 million euro or 0.96%, while Evros was marginally in second place with 1 billion 616 million euro, down by 32 million euro or 1.9%.
XANTHI SECOND TO LAST, RHODOPE LAST
In second to last place is Xanthi with 928 million euro (down by 0.98 per cent), while the province of Rhodope is in last place with 889 million euro.
