Western Thrace Turkish institutions offer condolences after school attacks in Türkiye
The Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board has issued a message of condolence following deadly school shootings that took place in two provinces in Türkiye earlier this week.
In an official statement, the board said it was “deeply saddened” by the attacks that occurred on April 14 at Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, and on April 15 at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in the Haydarbey neighborhood of Kahramanmaraş.
The statement extended condolences to the families of the students and teachers who lost their lives, as well as to the wider Turkish public.
Separately, the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe also released a message expressing profound sorrow over the incidents.
“We are deeply saddened by the consecutive school attacks that took place in our motherland, the Republic of Türkiye, in the provinces of Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş,” the organization said in a statement issued by its executive board.
The federation conveyed its sympathies on behalf of its members and the Western Thrace Turkish diaspora across Europe, honoring the memory of those who lost their lives and offering condolences to their families and the Turkish nation.
The attacks have sparked grief and concern among Turkish communities both in Türkiye and abroad, prompting calls for solidarity and remembrance.
