Turkish Minority Students shine in Regional Chess Tournament, Alperen Şargo advances to national level
Students from Turkish minority schools stood out with remarkable performances in a regional chess tournament held across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, highlighting growing academic and extracurricular success within the community.
Among the Region competitors, Alperen Şargo, a second-grade student from İskeçe Turkish Minority Primary School, secured a top placement, earning qualification for the upcoming national chess tournament.
Strong Participation Across the Region
The tournament brought together primary and secondary school students from multiple regional units, including İskeçe, Rhodope, Meriç, Kavala, and Drama.
The event aimed to promote strategic thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities among young participants.
Notable Achievements by Minority Students
Alperen Şargo finished fourth overall, securing his place in the national-level competition.
In the girls’ category, Ayşenur Dede from Komotini İdadiye Turkish Minority Primary School and Ferişte İbram from Kozlukebir Turkish Minority Primary School both achieved third place finishes.
Additionally, students from İskeçe Turkish Minority Secondary School – High School, Erva Rana İmamoğlu and Hasibe Elif Osmanoğlu, also ranked among the top performers in the girls’ category, further contributing to their school’s success.
