European Commission director-general to visit Eastern Macedonia and Thrace

The visit will focus on initiatives implemented in the region under the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), one of the European Union’s main funding instruments for supporting employment, human resources, social inclusion and social rights.

During his visit, Nava is expected to meet with representatives of the regional administration, local authorities and institutions implementing projects and programs co-financed with EU support.

First stop: Dedeağaç
Nava’s visit will begin in Dedeağaç at 9:15 a.m., when he is scheduled to be welcomed by Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis at the regional administration building.

A working meeting will follow, focusing on the implementation of projects and initiatives funded through the ESF+ in the region.

The discussions are expected to examine progress in utilizing EU funding and the impact of social and employment programs at the regional level.

Social entrepreneurship on the agenda in Kavala
Nava will then travel to Kavala, where he is scheduled to meet representatives of the regional administration and organizations working in the field of social entrepreneurship.

The meeting is set to take place at 3:25 p.m. in the “Nikolaos Martis” hall of the former Kavala Prefecture.

The discussions will address employment, social policy and social inclusion, as well as support for disadvantaged groups. Regional needs, challenges and development opportunities are also expected to feature prominently on the agenda.

The visit is expected to strengthen cooperation and dialogue between the European Commission and regional and local authorities, particularly on the implementation of EU-funded social and employment initiatives.

Nava is also expected to make statements to the media ahead of his meetings in Dedeağaç and Kavala.
