The renovated old Town Hall opens on 7/9
Impressive and fully renovated, the emblematic building of Orfeos Street, which for decades housed the services of the municipality of Xanthi and is known as the old Town Hall, is handed over to the society of Xanthi.
The temporary acceptance of the project has already been carried out as well as the intermediate stage of the administrative acceptance, so the municipality of Xanthi can, according to the law, use it, before the final acceptance. In this context, the mayor of Xanthi, Mr. Manolis Tsepelis, announced the date of the opening ceremony on Wednesday, September 7.
The choice of the date is also related to the fact that it is the week of this year's Old Town festivities since the building is located in the settlement.
It is noted that the Town Hall was housed in this building until 2013, when it was decided to transfer it to the new building in the central square under Mayor Michalis Stylianides and to renovate the building in question, which had shown obvious wear and tear and stability problems.
The budgeted cost of the project included in the Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) program of the region was 1,650,000 euros.
