Haritonidou takes office as Deputy Mayor of Xanthi

Irini Haritonidou, Independent Councilor of Xanthi Municipality, started to work as the deputy mayor responsible for education, culture, and tourism.
Haritonidou, who was elected a city councilor from Melisopulos' list in the 2019 elections and was in opposition until recently, resigned from Melisopulos' list a few months ago and retained his seat in the parliament as an independent councilor.
Haritonidu recently announced that it has joined Mayor Chepelis' list. On Monday, January 30, she was appointed as the vice president by the decision of the mayor.
The following statements were included in the press release of Xanthi Municipality regarding the appointment of Haritonidou as vice-president:
“Mayor Manolis Tsepelis has yesterdey (Monday, January 30) appointed vice-president Irini Haritonidou, who will be responsible for education, culture, and tourism.
Her colleagues and officers prepared a warm welcome for Haritonidou, who had just started her new job.
Mayor Tsepelis wished success to her new deputy, "The ideologies and ideas of those in the local government may differ, but when it comes to service, they are not so important. It is important to serve people in local government. It is important to represent the society. I wish you success in your new position."
Haritonidou, who assumed and will carry out this task without any remuneration, thanked the mayor Tsepelis for his interest and trust in her.
