Gümülcine Mufti’s Office warns of fake deepfake videos impersonating Mufti Ibrahim Serif
The Elected Mufti’s Office of Komotini (Gümülcine) has warned the public about fabricated social media videos using the name, images and AI-generated imitations of the voice of Elected Mufti Ibrahim Serif and the institution.
In a statement published on its official social media account on November 4, the office said it had identified videos circulating on social media platforms that falsely attributed statements to Mufti Ibrahim Serif and the Elected Mufti’s Office of Komotini on matters outside their area of expertise.
The statement stressed that the videos were entirely fake, describing them as deepfakes and fabricated content.
WARNING OVER AI-GENERATED IMPERSONATION
The office specifically cautioned social media users against content exploiting the identity and visual material of Mufti Ibrahim Serif and the institution through artificial intelligence-generated voice imitations.
It also shared information about its official social media accounts, urging the public to rely on verified institutional channels for accurate information.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create misleading audiovisual content and impersonate public figures and institutions.
