In the presence of the former Mayor Lakis Stylianides, during whose days the move took place, as well as the General Secretary of the Ministry of Development, responsible for the ESPA G. Skalkos, the renovated building of the Old Xanthi Town Hall on Mavromichalis Street was inaugurated on Wednesday afternoon.
The grand opening of the renovated Old Town Hall of Xanthi took place on Wednesday afternoon.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the political, diplomatic and self-governing authorities, the Army and the Security Forces, social, economic and productive bodies, executives and employees of the Municipality of Xanthi and citizens.
The ribbon was cut by the Mayor Manolis Tsepelis, together with the former Mayor Michalis Stylianidis - as a mark of respect to the experienced self-governor, which the local community owes, as during the days of his administration the project of rescuing and highlighting the emblematic building began.
The Mayor referred to the effort made to complete the project and thanked everyone who contributed, so that the historic City Hall was handed over to the city and its residents.
Former Mayor of Xanthi Mr. Stylianidis pointed out that "this building is the history of Xanthi" and that words are unnecessary, as it "speaks by itself". "I could tell you a lot about the 14 years I lived here, but I'm sure that your desire - like mine, first of all - is to visit it."
The General Secretary of Public Investments and ESPA of the Ministry of Development, Dimitris Skalkos, thanked the Mayor of Xanthi for the invitation, he responded to the former Mayor's comment by pointing out that "the first ones who want to finish the projects on time are the Ministry, as "the ESPA it has specific deadlines, which when they cannot be met, the state budget pays for it" and spoke of an "outgoing project".
