Police arrests in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace for traffic code violations
Between April 23 and 26, 2025, police officers from the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace carried out operations across the regions of Rodopi, Kavala, Xanthi, and Evros, leading to 18 arrests for violations of the Greek Traffic Code. Specifically, five Greek nationals in Rodopi were arrested after being caught by police officers from the Komotini Traffic Department and the Arrians and Iasmos Police Departments while driving motorcycles without a valid driving license. Additionally, five more Greek nationals were arrested in Kavala and Thassos after being found driving motorcycles, a private car, and a commercial vehicle without proper licenses by officers from the Nestos and Thassos Police Departments.
In Xanthi, two Greek nationals and two foreigners were arrested for driving private cars and motorcycles without licenses, with the arrests made by officers from the Xanthi Border Guard Department and the Xanthi Crime Prevention and Investigation Department. Finally, four Greek nationals in Evros were arrested after being caught by officers from the Orestiada and Alexandroupolis Traffic Departments and the Alexandroupolis Police Department for driving private cars without valid licenses.
Police operations continue in the region to combat traffic violations.
