MP Ferhat requests additional staff for EFKA's Gümülcine branch
In his parliamentary inquiry, Ferhat highlighted the significant delays in processing citizens' retirement applications due to insufficient staff at the branch.
Ferhat pointed out that the current number of employees is inadequate to meet the needs of the public, resulting in prolonged delays in responding to applications. He emphasized that the Gümülcine branch urgently needs additional personnel to address these issues.
In his statement, Ferhat criticized the government for promoting a so-called digital state and modern tools that supposedly expedite procedures, while in reality, the bureaucracy remains a significant hurdle. He noted that many citizens, particularly those with multiple insurance schemes and those awaiting combined pensions, are facing long delays due to the lack of staff to process their cases.
Currently, the Gümülcine branch operates with approximately 27 employees, including both permanent and temporary staff, whereas it should ideally have a workforce of around 50. Ferhat warned that the continued shortage of staff, along with the expiration of contracts, could lead to the collapse of the local EFKA office, leaving many retirees without the financial support they need.
He concluded by asking the Minister what immediate measures will be taken to expedite the processing of delayed pensions and whether there are plans to extend contracts or transfer staff to alleviate the staffing shortages at the Gümülcine branch.
