A well-known voice of the Western Thrace Turkish community, Hatipoğlu was recognized for his dedication to journalism and his commitment to keeping the public informed about developments in the region.

Throughout his career, he earned respect for his objective and principled reporting, becoming an inspiration for young journalists.

Born in 1955, Hatipoğlu worked for many years as a correspondent for Anadolu Agency in Athens and Gümülcine. He was known for his extensive reporting on issues concerning the Turkish minority of Western Thrace, playing a vital role in conveying regional developments to the Turkish public.

In recent years, Hatipoğlu had been living in Istanbul with his family and had reportedly been facing health problems.

His passing has caused deep sorrow among colleagues in both Western Thrace and Türkiye.

Hatipoğlu’s funeral will be held in Komotini after his body is transferred to Western Thrace in the coming days.
