FEP Party make a statement on International Mother Language Day
FEP Party emphasized the importance of education in the mother tongue and the necessity and importance of bilingual kindergartens for the future of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, and stated the following:
"In 1991, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared February 21 as "International Mother Language Day". The mother tongue is defined as the language that a person learns through his family, environment, and society without any education.
In this context, the value of our mother tongue Turkish, which has a rich vocabulary, is priceless. In order to protect our culture and to be more useful to our country, it is imperative that we adopt our mother tongue. It is therefore essential to have bilingual kindergartens in order to impose our mother tongue on children at an early age and to make it easier for them to learn different languages in the future. It is a pity that these demands are not met in our country. Resolving this situation is among our demands and expectations in the field of education.
As FEP Party, we celebrate World Mother Language Day
