125 calls to Police Hotline for domestic violence in İskeçe in 2025
Detailed statistics on domestic violence incidents in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) were presented during the event “Together We Break the Silence: 13 Cities, One Front Against Domestic Violence”, held last week in Dedeağaç in the presence of Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis.
According to data reported by ERT and journalist Dimitra Paraskevopoulou, there was a notable 8% increase in recorded domestic violence cases in 2025, alongside a rise in calls to the police emergency hotline “100.”
In 2025, authorities handled 709 domestic violence cases, compared to 657 in 2024, marking an 8% year-on-year increase. The highest rise—60%—was recorded in the prefecture of Rhodope.
When measured per 10,000 inhabitants, the highest incident rates were recorded in Kumçiftliği and Kavala (22 cases), followed by İskeçe (21), Dedeağaç (19), Drama (17), and Gümülcine (14).
Of the total 709 cases, 98% (697 cases) were handled by specialized Domestic Violence Departments (G.A.E.V.).
Regarding emergency hotline calls, İskeçe reported 125 calls to “100” in the first nine months of 2025, out of a total 385 calls across the EMT region. This follows 101 out of 295 calls in 2024—figures that once again place İskeçe well ahead of other regional units in reported incidents.
