Does Mitsotakis Family have a specific gene for governing Greece?

Nowadays, Greece prepares for the early elections which were proclaimed by premier Tsipras following the overwhelming loss of Syriza in European Parliament Elections on 26 May.

After the “victory” of the ND in the passing elections, all surveys show that ND will be the first party and will come to power. Hereby, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be the new premier of Greece.

To say a victory for the win of ND is a bit misleading with the turnout ratio of 58.69 %. It is clear that people did not prefer to go to polls and by this way voters gave a strong message to the politic authorities. Apparently, the message says that people are desperate and do not expect any change from politic deciders. It is an important problem of politic life in Greece, but it is out of our topic.

I thought about the future prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Of course, the name Mitsotakis is familiar to Greece because of the former premier of the country Konstantinos Mitsotakis who has governed the country between 1990 and 1993. He was the father of the current general president of ND and the famous politician, Ntora Bakogianni. And Bakogianni surname is rememberable from the Governor of Periphery Central Greece and newly elected mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakogianni who is a member of Mitsotakis family and son of Mrs. Bakogianni.

.
Anyway, our topic is not related to the family of Mitsotakis. The main issue is that there is a clear aristocratic order in the politics of Greece. As the example of Mitsotakis family, only a few families can play and practically, play an important role in the management of Greece.

It is true not only for the Mitsotakis family but also for the Karamanlis family, which is a member of the same party. If we go a little further, Konstantinos Karamanlis ruled the state before and after the Military Coup of 1967 and was elected two times President of Greece. The former head of the party, which is elected in 1997, known as Kostas Karamanlis (whose full name is Konstantinos Aleksandrou Karamanlis) and who served as Prime Minister between 2004 and 2009 is the nephew of Konstantinos, whom I mentioned earlier.

Again, as I recall, the Papandreou family is one of the important families of Greek politics. In the pre-Military Coup of 1967, George Papandreou (the old) held several important posts, including the post of Prime Minister. His son, Andreas Papandreou is one of the prime ministers of the post-junta era. Lastly, I do not think that there is anyone who cannot remember George Papandreou, who served as prime minister between 2009-2011. He was from the same family, the son of Andreas Papandreou. Anyway, I do not want to stretch out and bother you. It is possible to come across many such examples in Greek politics.

Now, considering all this, there is a question mark in the mind. I mean, do these families have a specific gene for managing Greece? Why do these particular families run the whole country? How appropriate is this to political ethics? Is the future of a country be left to the initiative of several families in line with democratic principles?

Anyway, these guys have an active role in their own party and can be candidates. Let's say that they are candidates for 400 thousand ND members, how come they keep silent? Despite all this, this nation does not object to this situation? Apparently, no! That's why people take ND to power. In this case, all I can do is remind you the quote of Joseph de Maistre; “Toute nation a le gouvernement qu'elle mérite.” – “Every nation gets the government it deserves.”

As a result, if such a decision is taken, it is our duty to congratulate the Premier. I hope it will be good for Greece...
