Mild earthquakes recorded near Amorgos and Crete

Two moderate undersea earthquakes were recorded on Friday off the islands of Crete and Amorgos, with no reports of injuries or damage, according to initial assessments.
The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.5, occurred at 4:53 p.m. in the sea area south of Crete. According to preliminary data from the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter was located 47 kilometers southwest of Palaiochora, in the Chania region, at a focal depth of 20.6 kilometers. The tremor was felt in parts of southern Crete.
A second earthquake, measuring 4.6 in magnitude, was recorded at 7:18 p.m. southwest of Amorgos. The epicenter was located 13 kilometers south-southwest of Arkesini, with a focal depth of 15.6 kilometers. The quake was lightly felt across several areas in the Cyclades.
The seismic activity at both locations is being closely monitored. Authorities have not expressed concern.
