Kutsumpas warns of turning Alexandroupoli into a NATO base

During his visit to Alexandroupoli, Dimitris Kutsumpas, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Greece, said that the country's inclusion in NATO plans poses a danger to the region and the people of the region.
Within the framework of his visit to the Eastern Macedonia - Thrace region, Kutsumpas spoke at the event organized by the KKE Evros Organization with the theme "The Dangers of Turning Alexandroupoli into a Military and Energy Gate - KKE's Opinions in favor of the People".
Kutsumpas, who started his speech by saying that the KKE is the first and only party in Greece that foresees the war in Ukraine, pointed out that the situation in question is a danger that will ignite the spark of conflict in the Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa.
The KKE Secretary General, who wanted to stop sending weapons and Armed Forces personnel to the war zones, asked the government to explain what kind of agreement it had.
Criticizing the government and the main opposition SIRIZA regarding the defense cooperation agreement with the United States, Kutsumpas accused the Alexandroupoli Port and the wider region of being a target for Russian retaliation.
Saying that sanctions against Russia should be avoided in the energy field, Kutsumpas noted that liquefied (LNG) natural gas originating from the USA, which has high transportation and storage costs, should not be relied upon. He added that the project in question poses a danger to the Thracian Sea.
