German Ambassador to Athens Ernst Reichel visited the port of Alexandroupolis on Wednesday, where he met with the northern Greek city's mayor.
German Ambassador to Athens Ernst Reichel visited the port of Alexandroupolis on Wednesday, where he met with the northern Greek city's mayor.
On Twitter, Reichel wrote: "Alexandroupoli is gaining strategic importance as a gateway both for energy and defense equipment. This is in the interest of both NATO Allies and EU Member States. This was the upshot of my visit of the port today. Lots of thanks for the insights and hospitality!"
The city's Mayor Giannis Zamboukis said that "there was mutual interest in cooperating in areas related to tourism, with an emphasis on the new air link sought with Germany, culture, education and renewable energy."
