The European Union (EU) has approved 106 million euros in financial support for the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Alexandroupoli, Greece.
The European Union (EU) has approved €106 million in financial support for the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Alexandroupoli, Greece, with the explanation that it is in line with EU public support rules.
It was reported that the aid prepared for the completion of the LNG terminal in Alexandroupoli by the end of 2023 will be in the form of a direct grant.
The terminal, which Greece launched last year, will contribute to the strategic goals of diversifying energy sources and ending dependence on Russian fossil fuels, the statement said.
The project, which is expected to supply approximately 5.5 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually to Greece's gas distribution system, is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
