Komotini State Hospital did not extend the contract of 28 cleaning staff

28 people who carried out the cleaning of Komotini (Sismanoglio) State Hospital lost their jobs. With the sudden decision of the hospital management, 28 cleaning workers consisting of men and women were dismissed. As of February 1, 28 cleaning workers whose contracts have not been renewed are no longer working.
It was stated that 28 people working as contract cleaning personnel continued their work during the pandemic period and did not leave their jobs despite low salaries to keep the hospital clean.
According to Aggeliki Katsi, the lawyer of the 28 contract staff who opposed the unfair practice, the hospital administration argued that there was no obstacle to extending the contracts of the 28 cleaning staff until at least June.
Evaluating the non-renewal of their contracts as unfair, 28 cleaning personnel announced that they started a struggle for rights, law and justice against the hospital management.
It was stated that the hospital management transferred the cleaning works of the hospital to a company.
