Course of Freedom party surges in poll following Tempe protests
Course of Freedom Party has seen the biggest boost following nationwide protests over the government’s handling of the deadly Tempe railway disaster just over two years ago.
According to the latest Pulse poll for Skai TV, the party has surged to 12%, up from 7% last month, tying for second place with the socialist PASOK, the main opposition party.
Until recently, Course of Freedom had polled between 3% and 5% in Skai surveys from January 2024 to January 2025, before its sharp rise over the past two months.
The nationalist Greek Solution also gained ground following the Tempe rallies, reaching 8% and securing fourth place. Meanwhile, PASOK’s 12% score in the latest poll marked a one-point decline from last month.
The ruling conservative New Democracy party maintained its lead but saw its support drop slightly to 23%, down from 24% in the previous poll. Undecided voters increased to 13.5%, up from 12.5%.
When asked which opposition party they believed was most likely to govern in the future, respondents ranked PASOK highest at 28%, followed by Course of Freedom at 11%.
Regarding the government’s recent Cabinet reshuffle, 18% of respondents considered it essential, 10% found it important but not essential, and 15% saw it as useful but not essential, while 44% viewed it as unnecessary.
When asked about the significance of the Tempe railway disaster today, 33% of respondents said it remained the most important issue, while 42% described it as one of the most important.
Health, inflation and the economy remain top concerns for Greeks, while 49% express pessimism about Donald Trump’s presidency in the US.
