The Atatürk House in Thessaloniki, one of the most visited landmarks in Greece by Turkish citizens, Balkan communities, and tourists from various countries, will temporarily close for restoration.

The Atatürk House in Thessaloniki, one of the most visited landmarks in Greece by Turkish citizens, Balkan communities, and tourists from various countries, will temporarily close for restoration. This historic site is renowned as the birthplace of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye.

The Turkish Consulate General in Thessaloniki announced that the Atatürk House will be closed to visitors starting December 4, 2024.

The Consulate’s statement read:
"The 'restoration and exhibition arrangement project' for the Atatürk House, last restored in 2012-2013, has been finalized, and implementation will now begin. Accordingly, the House will be temporarily closed starting December 4, 2024 (inclusive). The reopening date will be announced once determined."

Updates on the reopening of the Atatürk House following the restoration will be shared with the public in due course.
