Mitsotakis in Ankara for NATO Summit
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Ankara on Monday to participate in the 2026 NATO Summit, joining allied leaders for a dinner hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the eve of the alliance's formal proceedings.
Mitsotakis, accompanied by his wife, Mareva Mitsotaki, was welcomed with an official reception before attending the leaders' gathering at the presidential complex, where they were received by Erdogan and his wife, Emine Erdogan.

The Greek delegation included the prime minister's diplomatic adviser Katerina Nasika, Press Office Director Giorgos Efthymiou, Communications Director Kyra Kapi, Head of International Strategic Planning and Communications Aristotelia Peloni, and Greece's Ambassador to France, Milton Nikolaidis, who served as interpreter during the visit. The delegation was welcomed upon arrival by Turkish officials and Greece's Ambassador to Ankara, Theodoros Bizakis.
The visit precedes the NATO Summit, where leaders of the alliance's 32 member states are expected to discuss defense spending, transatlantic security, support for Ukraine and broader regional challenges.
According to Greek government sources, Athens is participating in the summit "with the confidence of a strong and reliable ally," highlighting Greece's continued fulfillment of NATO commitments and its implementation of the defense spending targets agreed at last year's summit in The Hague.
The summit also comes amid renewed attention to Greek-Turkish relations within the alliance as regional security issues remain high on NATO's agenda.
