Black wreath placed at Greek Consulate in Edirne amid memorial demonstration
A black wreath was placed in front of the Greek Consulate in Edirne during a demonstration marking the 82nd anniversary of the Chameria events. The action was organized by civil society groups under the umbrella of the Balkan Rumelian Turks Confederation, who gathered outside the consulate to draw attention to historical grievances and memory politics in the Balkans.
Participants displayed banners and placed a wreath bearing the message “We have not forgotten, we will not forget the Chameria events,” followed by a brief press statement. Organizers emphasized historical accountability and called for recognition of past injustices in the region.
The event also included a photo exhibition in central Edirne, highlighting historical documentation related to the Chameria period.
