The founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was commemorated on the 86th anniversary of his passing at his birthplace in Thessaloniki, Greece. Organized by Turkey's Thessaloniki Consulate, the ceremony attracted a large number of visitors from Türkiye and various European countries.

At 9:05 a.m. local time, attendees observed a moment of silence, followed by the Turkish national anthem. Turkish Consul General Serkan Gedik highlighted Atatürk’s words, "My mortal body will surely turn to dust one day, but the Republic of Türkiye will live forever," underscoring the enduring legacy he entrusted to the Turkish nation.

Gedik expressed his pleasure at the increased interest in the Atatürk House, noting a rise in annual visitors from 285,000 to over 460,000. The commemoration concluded with students reciting poems reflecting the significance of the day.
