Registered unemployed reach 795,588 in july 2025
The number of registered unemployed in Greece stood at 795,588 in July 2025, according to figures released by the Public Employment Service (DYPA) on Wednesday.
Compared to July 2024, unemployment dropped by 53,014 people (-6.2%), while it rose by 41,263 people (+5.5%) from the previous month, June 2025.
Long-Term unemployment
Of the total registered, 426,724 individuals (53.6%) have been unemployed for over 12 months, while 368,864 (46.4%) have been out of work for less than a year.
Women account for the majority of the unemployed at 68.9% (548,445 people), compared to 31.1% (247,143) for men. The largest age group is 30–44 years, with 253,364 registered unemployed (31.8%).
Education and regional breakdown
By education level, those with secondary and post-secondary non-tertiary education represent the largest group at 359,845 individuals (45.2%).
Regionally, unemployment remains highest in Attica (282,275 – 35.5%) and Central Macedonia (159,424 – 20%).
Subsidized unemployment
In July 2025, 110,948 unemployed individuals received benefits, including 104,211 general unemployed (93.9%) and 6,737 seasonal workers in tourism (6.1%).
This number reflects a 20.3% decrease (-28,176 people) compared to July 2024, but a 14.8% increase (+14,312) compared to June 2025.
Among those receiving subsidies, 42,287 were men (38.1%) and 68,661 women (61.9%).
