Registered unemployment falls 14.4% in April, DYPA says
The number of registered unemployed people in Greece fell by 14.4% in April compared with the previous month, according to figures released Wednesday by Public Employment Service.
DYPA said the total number of registered unemployed dropped to 737,625 in April 2026, marking a decline of 123,616 people from March and 73,699 fewer compared with April 2025.
Of the total unemployed, 384,897 people, or 52.2%, had been out of work for at least 12 months, while 352,728 people, or 47.8%, had been unemployed for less than a year.
Women accounted for 65.9% of registered unemployed, totaling 486,428 people, while men represented 34.1% with 251,197 individuals.
The highest unemployment levels were recorded among people aged 30 to 44, with 210,505 registered unemployed, representing 28.5% of the total.
Regionally, Attica recorded the highest number of unemployed at 236,432, followed by Central Macedonia with 145,197.
