The 6th issue of Bağlar out: "The Pen is the Responsible Witness of the Age"

Bağlar, a prominent platform for Turkish literature in the Balkans, has released its 6th issue to its readers.

With the quote “The pen is the responsible witness of the age” by Master Sezai Karakoç, Bağlar greets its readers in this issue, featuring the "Personalities" section and the excitement of the first works by young writers from the Balkans.

From Western Thrace, the issue includes:

Short stories: Hüseyin Mehmet's "The Legend of the Art of Destruction", Esma Deli Hasan's "Maybe Next Time", Melis Delis Deli Hasan's "The Happy Grocer", and Ayşe Bostancı's "Migration".
Essays: Bilal Sarı Mahmut's "The Word", Esra Deli Hasan's "Understand Me", Beyzanur İmam's "We Are Made of Our Thoughts", and Seher Paçamam's "Traces of My Grandfather".
In the "Personalities" section: Müberra Karadayı's "The Last Akıncı Bey of the Rhodope Mountains" and Harun Halil’s "The Impressions of a Greek Soldier Who Took Refuge in Turkey During World War II (1941-1943)".
In this issue, Bağlar's writers provide a panorama of the Balkans' intellectual, artistic, and social landscape, reflecting on influential figures in the region's societal and cultural life as well as those who have left personal impacts on the authors.

With each issue, Bağlar expands its readership and author base, promoting Turkish literature across the Balkans. The "Personalities" section in this issue highlights major cultural figures such as the great poet of Turkish literature in the Balkans, Sûzî Çelebi, modern poets and writers Çamil Siyariç and Abdylazis Islami, and Halil Efendi, the first and last mayor of Ottoman Varna, reminding readers of the rich cultural heritage of the region.

In addition to the "Personalities" section, independent essays, stories, and poems in this issue continue to offer significant contributions to the literary and intellectual milieu of the Balkans. These works reflect the hopes and despairs, longings and reunions, journeys and arrivals of the region, underscoring the role of literature and thought as responsible witnesses to life.

Bağlar, by featuring the quote from Sezai Karakoç on its cover, reiterates the responsibility of literature, art, and thought towards life. The writings such as "The Legend of the Art of Destruction", "On Transparency", and "Let’s Tighten the Ranks" offer deep reflections on the pivotal points of life, society, and thought, fulfilling their roles as witnesses to their time.

As a journal focusing on the Balkans, Bağlar serves as an important stop in the literary and intellectual journeys of its writers, also providing space for the excitement of their first books. In this issue, writers Medadin Limani and Mehmed Arif share the joy of publishing their first books and talk about their literary journeys with Bağlar’s publication coordinator, Hüseyin Mehmet. Medadin Limani discusses his short story collection "Faces Without Cover" and the process of writing the stories, while Mehmed Arif talks about his book "The Poet Who Burned His Divan" and the journey of Turkish poetry in the Balkans.
