Bulgaria to tighten security at strategic sites after ammunition depot blasts
Speaking to Bulgarian National Radio, Demerdzhiev said he would meet Prime Minister Rumen Radev next week to discuss and finalize specific measures aimed at preventing similar incidents.
His comments came as authorities investigate two explosions at ammunition depots in the Gabrovo region over the past month and examine whether the incidents are connected.
Investigators examine possible links
Demerdzhiev said investigators were pursuing all possible lines of inquiry and comparing evidence from the two incidents.
He said the government would introduce measures to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future, noting that other countries had also faced difficulties investigating comparable cases.
Findings expected in Petrohan case
Demerdzhiev said expert findings and other evidence gathered in the Petrohan case, in which six people were killed, were expected to be released Monday.
Two investigations are underway, he said. One is examining the deaths, while the other focuses on financial matters, including payments made to accounts belonging to the association involved in the case.
