Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board hosts final iftar with journalists and their families

The Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board (BTTADK) held its final iftar of the Ramadan season, bringing together journalists and their families for a communal gathering.
Among the distinguished guests at the iftar were Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, and his wife, İlayda Ünal. Other notable attendees included BTTADK President and Mufti of Xanthi, Mustafa Trampa; Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif; Rhodope MP, Özgür Ferhat; DEB Party President, Çiğdem Asafoğlu; Mayor of Arriana, Erdem Hüseyin; Mayor of Iasmos, Caner İmam; President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Association, Aydın Ahmet; President of the Xanthi Turkish Union, Ozan Ahmetoğlu; President of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union, Sedat Hasan; President of the Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association, Dr. Hüseyin Baltacı; President of the Western Thrace Minority Culture and Education Company (BAKEŞ), Hüseyin Bostancı; President of BİHLİMDER, Mehmet Emin Ahmet; and members of the Advisory Board.
The iftar commenced with the call to prayer, after which Mufti İbrahim Şerif led the iftar prayer.
Following the meal, Mufti Mustafa Trampa delivered a brief speech, emphasizing that throughout Ramadan, the Board had attended various iftar gatherings, fostering unity among community members. He acknowledged the dedication of journalists in covering these events and expressed gratitude for their efforts in showcasing the solidarity of the Turkish minority to the world.
Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, also addressed the attendees, stating that he and his wife had participated in numerous iftar gatherings throughout the holy month. He highlighted the presence of high-level Turkish officials at iftar events organized by the Western Thrace Turkish community, underscoring the significance of these gatherings. Ünal also mentioned that due to a demanding schedule, he was unable to attend all invitations but expressed hope to do so next year if his tenure in Western Thrace continues.
The event served as a platform for strengthening ties within the community, reaffirming the commitment to unity and cultural preservation among Western Thrace’s Turkish minority.
