Western Thrace Turks, who went to a toy store in Xanthi, encountered a great scandal. Muslim Turks were shocked when they saw soccer balls with the inscription "Quran" in the store. The incident caused great reactions in the public when the kinsmen who took the photo of the ball shared the scandal on social media.

The Xanthi Mufti took action after the scandalous event gained dimensions. A lawyer appointed upon the instruction of Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa contacted the store in question.

Speaking to MİLLET on the subject, Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa said: "It is in no way acceptable to sell a soccer ball with the word 'Quran' on it in a toy store. When this information reached us, we took action immediately. The store in question was contacted through a lawyer. The gravity of the incident was conveyed to them. We explained that this is an insult to the Muslim Turkish community and that it is extremely wrong. Our demand is to withdraw this soccer ball both from the store in Xanthi and from other stores in the country and stop its sale. I hope that the responsible people will show sensitivity and do what is necessary. I would like to emphasize that similar situations should not be repeated.”

Upon the incident, it was reported that some of the kinsmen from Xanthi contacted the store and demanded that the soccer ball be withdrawn from sale.
