Tarkan Multaza criticizes Kozlukebir Municipality over rejected agricultural infrastructure projects
In a public statement, Multaza accused the municipal leadership of “technical incompetence” and “lack of vision,” arguing that the failed applications exposed serious shortcomings in the municipality’s project planning and management process.
Referring to the rural infrastructure support package announced by the Greek Ministry of Agriculture, Multaza noted that the program’s budget had been increased from €65 million to €194 million and described it as “the largest rural infrastructure and agricultural road program in Greek history.”
According to Multaza, a total of 123 municipalities across the country qualified for funding under the program, while all four projects submitted by Kozlukebir Municipality were rejected.
As an example, he pointed to Maronia-Şapçı Municipality, which reportedly secured nearly €1 million in support for two approved projects.
Multaza argued that the rejection reflected a poorly managed process and claimed that the submitted projects lacked sufficient technical quality and were not adequately evaluated within the municipal council before submission.
The opposition leader also criticized the municipality for prioritizing social media promotion over concrete public services.
“The administration focuses heavily on publicity, yet fails to deliver tangible results for residents,” Multaza stated.
He further claimed that the project preparation process lacked transparency and alleged that the municipal council was not effectively involved in decision-making procedures.
The statement emphasized that farmers and residents in rural areas would be among the most affected by the failed applications. While neighboring municipalities received significant support for agricultural road improvements, producers in the Kozlukebir region would continue facing transportation difficulties due to deteriorating rural roads, the statement said.
