The service that the residents of Kalkanca e Çuhacılar neighbourhood of Komotini have been waiting for years is finally expected to arrive in 2024.
Both neighbourhoods did not have sewerage network until today. With the implementation of this project, both neighbourhoods where thousands of people live will have sewerage network.
The contract for the construction of the sewerage network, which has been among the demands of the residents of Çuhacılar and Kalkanca for years, was signed between DEYAK (Komotini Water and Sewerage Administration) and the contractor company on Tuesday morning, 19 December.
Through the connections to be made within the scope of the project, it is envisaged to construct a sewerage network in the settlements in question, as well as to connect the waste network of the University Campus to the municipal waste network.
DEYAK President Stratos Tsakiridis said that 250 private sewerage connections will be made for Çuhacılar and 500 for Kalkanca through the network and 3 intermediate pumping stations will be built.
Tsakiridis said, "It is a very important project, the drainage works in the city are slowly being completed. Çuhacılar and Kalkanca will be included in the sewerage network extending from Killik and Küçükköy to Kafkasköy. Thus, another big problem that has been waiting for a solution for years will be solved."
DEYAK President Tsakidiris said that as in previous projects, they hope that the contractor will comply with the timetable and that the works will be completed within 18 months and with as little inconvenience as possible.
