Rıdvan Ahmet slams Kozlukebir Municipality over rejected rural infrastructure projects
In a written statement released following the announcement of the project results on May 18, 2026, Ahmet described the outcome as “a major disappointment” for both the municipality and local residents.
Highlighting the broader national context, Ahmet noted that 365 projects worth a total of €194 million were approved across the country. He also pointed out that neighboring municipalities, including Maronia-Sapes Municipality and Miki Municipality, successfully secured project approvals, while Kozlukebir Municipality failed to obtain funding for any of its submissions.
“We produced results, not publicity, during our term. Today, social media posts claim that ‘we are working hard,’ yet there are neither results nor services,” Ahmet said, criticizing the municipality’s ability to develop and deliver effective projects.
The former mayor also argued that merely submitting applications should not be portrayed as an achievement.
“The issue is not sharing photos online. The real goal is to bring financial resources and investments into the municipality,” he stated.
Ahmet further claimed that the rejection of the rural development projects reflected not technical shortcomings, but deeper administrative problems, including what he described as “a lack of vision and inadequate preparation.”
Emphasizing the importance of rural infrastructure for the region’s future, Ahmet warned that the consequences extend beyond the loss of individual projects.
“What has been lost is not only these projects, but also village roads, the future of local producers, and critical development opportunities for the municipality,” he said.
