In his address, he expressed satisfaction with the development plan being implemented in Northern Evros and throughout Thrace, stating, "I am very pleased that the plan we present today is the result of productive and meaningful consultations."

Mitsotakis emphasized the historical significance of the decision to protect the Evros border, expressing pride in Greece's and Europe's recent achievements in this regard. He also noted that when the war between Ukraine and Russia ends, the Evros region will play a crucial role in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The Prime Minister announced that residents of Sofulu municipality would be exempt from the ENFIA tax for the next three years, a decision influenced by the decline in the region's population and the devastating fires experienced in recent years.

Additionally, Mitsotakis mentioned efforts to develop the Thracian Democritus University and establish a Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the Evros region, emphasizing support for local businesses.

Many ministers and local officials accompanied Mitsotakis during his visit.
