Traditional student fairs organised in cooperation with final-year students of İskeçe Minority Secondary and High School and the school’s Parents’ Association attracted strong attendance in the villages of Şahin and Ketenlik.
The first fair took place in Şahin on Saturday, October 17, followed by an event in the village square of Ketenlik on Sunday, October 18. The Ketenlik fair ran from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., welcoming visitors throughout the day.
COMMUNITY LEADERS JOIN THE EVENTS
Students, parents, teachers, members of the school’s Parents’ Association, school board representatives and local residents attended the fairs, alongside visitors from neighbouring villages.
Among those visiting to show their support were Mustafa Trampa, president of the Consultative Committee of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority and mufti of İskeçe (Xanthi); Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Council members Salih Yoruk, Ibrahim Amucka and Fatih Ismailko; Ozan Ahmetoğlu, chairman of the school’s Board of Trustees; and Cemile Onbaşı, chair of the Parents’ Association.
FOOD, ENTERTAINMENT AND SOLIDARITY
Favourable weather helped attract visitors throughout both events. The fairs offered entertainment areas for children and adults, as well as a variety of food, desserts, grilled meatballs and lahmacun.
Organised through the joint efforts of students, families and village residents, the fairs provided an opportunity for the community to come together and support the school’s final-year students.
The final event in this year’s series of student fairs is scheduled to take place in the village of Gökçeler on Saturday, October 24.
