Greece opens agricultural land leasing programme across 11 regional units, including Rhodope
Greece’s state-owned property company has launched a pilot programme offering 99 agricultural plots for lease across 11 regional units, including Rhodope (Rodopi). Applications must be submitted online by November 30, 2026, with leases initially lasting four years and the possibility of extension.
The Hellenic Public Properties Company (ETAD), a subsidiary of Greece’s National Fund, has launched a pilot programme to lease publicly owned agricultural land, aiming to improve access to farmland and support agricultural production across the country.
In the programme’s first phase, 99 selected agricultural properties covering a combined area of 2,263,413 square metres will be made available for lease across 11 regional units: Rhodope (Rodopi), Thessaloniki, Pella, Serres, Imathia, Kastoria, Preveza, Trikala, Evia, Achaia and Aetolia-Acarnania.
According to ETAD, the initiative forms part of its strategy to put its agricultural property portfolio to productive use and generate economic and social value for local communities.
The programme is also intended to make farmland more accessible, particularly for young professional farmers, enable existing agricultural businesses to expand their cultivated areas and help sustain economic activity in rural Greece.
FOUR-YEAR LEASES WITH EXTENSION OPTIONS
The properties will be leased exclusively for agricultural cultivation. Initial lease agreements will run for four years, with the option of a further four-year extension.
Additional extensions may be agreed in writing between the parties, provided that tenants have fully complied with the lease terms and have no overdue debts to ETAD.
Applicants may express interest in leasing entire properties or individual portions of them, depending on the available land and the terms of the programme.
ONLINE APPLICATIONS OPEN UNTIL NOVEMBER 30
ETAD has expanded its digital application platform with a dedicated electronic service for the agricultural land leasing programme. Applications are accepted exclusively online, with the deadline set for November 30, 2026.
Interested parties can review the application process, eligibility requirements and available properties through ETAD’s official website and the dedicated application portal:

The company said the initiative connects the management of public assets with the needs of the real economy, support for the primary sector and sustainable development in Greece’s rural regions.
The pilot programme could provide new opportunities for farmers seeking additional land, while enabling the state to make more productive use of its agricultural property holdings.
