Özgür Ferhat raises unpaid compensation of Rhodope Agricultural Cooperative Workers in Parliament
Özgür Ferhat, Member of Parliament for Rhodope from the New Left, has brought to the Greek Parliament the issue of unpaid wages and severance compensation for workers of the now-dissolved Rhodope Agricultural Cooperatives Union.
In a parliamentary question addressed to the Ministries of Labor and Social Security, Agriculture and Food, Economy and Finance, and Development, Ferhat underlined that the uncertainty surrounding the liquidation process has caused serious concern among the workers.
“The closure of this cooperative, which contributed to regional agriculture for years, has cut off the livelihood of hundreds of families. Salaries and compensation remain unpaid, and the government remains silent,” Ferhat said in his statement.
The MP asked the ministries the following questions:
- At what stage is the liquidation process?
- What actions have been taken so far?
- What steps are being taken to protect workers’ rights?
- Will compensation be paid, and if so, when?
- What is the government’s plan to address the grievances?
Ferhat stressed that the affected workers must urgently receive their compensation, the process must be conducted transparently, and the government must assume responsibility.
