GPO poll puts New Democracy at 25.2%, opposition parties trail
Ruling New Democracy party remains narrowly above the 25% electoral target set by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, recording 25.2% in voting intention in a new GPO poll commissioned by iefimerida. The survey also indicates that 68.5% of respondents want a change of government, while 52.7% prefer a single-party administration.
New Democracy slips slightly
The survey puts New Democracy at 25.2%, down 0.6 percentage points from the previous poll in September.
ELAS ranks second with 13.5%, followed by PASOK at 11.2%. Both parties remain stable compared with September, leaving a gap of 2.3 percentage points between them.
Compared with July, New Democracy has declined by 0.5 percentage points, ELAS has fallen by 1 point, while PASOK has gained 1.7 points.
KKE rises to fourth place
The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) records an increase, reaching 8.1% and moving into fourth place.
It is followed by Greek Solution at 7.3%, Course of Freedom at 4% and Voice of Reason at 3.3%.
New political formations below 3%
The survey places Maria Karystianou’s Hope for Democracy at 2.2%, while the Alliance of Greeks, associated with Ilias Kasidiaris, records 2.4%.
Both formations remain below the 3% threshold required to enter the Greek Parliament.
Most respondents want a change of government
Despite New Democracy’s lead in voting intention, 68.5% of respondents said they wanted a change of government, according to the poll.
At the same time, 52.7% expressed a preference for a single-party government rather than a coalition administration.
The findings point to a gap between New Democracy’s position in voting intention and public preferences regarding the next government, although the poll does not establish how these views would translate into election results.
