Ova women’s committee organizes cultural trip to North Macedonia
Under the umbrella of the Kırköy Cultural, Educational, and Sports Association, the Ova Women’s Committee organized a meaningful two-day cultural trip to North Macedonia on November 1–2. The event offered participants the opportunity to explore the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
The first stop of the trip was the city of Bitola (Manastır). Accompanied by a tour guide, the group visited the Military High School – Atatürk Museum, Sirok Street, Officers’ House, Eleni Karinte’s House, Philip II Statue, Clock Tower, Magnolia Square, Yeni Mosque, and Ishak Çelebi Mosque. After the tour in Bitola, the group continued to Ohrid, the “pearl of Macedonia.” There, participants enjoyed a boat tour and visited Klimet Ohrid Square, Turkish Quarter, Çınar Square, St. Sophia Church, and a handmade paper printing house.
On the second day, the journey began in Tetova (Kalkandelen) with a visit to the famous Painted Mosque (Alaca Camii). Later, the participants traveled to Skopje, the capital city of North Macedonia. In Skopje, they toured Macedonia Square, Philip II Statue, Olimpija Statue, surrounding historical buildings, Alexander the Great Statue, Stone Bridge, and the Old Turkish Bazaar.
The two-day cultural trip was filled with enriching experiences, allowing participants to connect deeply with the region’s history and culture.
Association officials expressed heartfelt thanks to all members who took part and to everyone who supported the event.
