Number of fires increase in the Region of East Macedonia and Thrace
Recommendation to citizens for attention and strict adherence to prevention measures The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, due to the increased number of fire starts recorded recently in various areas of its territory, addresses a strong recommendation to all citizens for increased attention and strict adherence to the prescribed prevention measures against fires.
It is recalled that we are in the fire season, during which the burning of agricultural land is expressly prohibited, and any negligence may lead to disastrous consequences for the natural environment, human life and property.
The Civil Protection Directorate recommends that citizens.o Using outdoor grills or fires for cooking. o Smoking bees without proper precautions. o Throwing lit cigarettes or other flammable materials.
- Follow Civil Protection notices and comply with the instructions of the competent authorities.
- In case they notice smoke or fire, citizens are requested to immediately notify the Fire Service on the call number 199 or 112, giving as clear as possible information on the location and extent of the incident.
The prevention of forest fires is everyone's business. A responsible attitude and immediate reaction can prevent a disaster.
